Detailing My Ride - Part 4

Who designs buildings? That’s an architect.  What’s the design and construction of a building?  That’s architecture, and architecture is my passion!

In order to become an architect, you need a special license.  You would also have to take a test to determine how good you are.       There are many different schools you could go to.  There’s the Penn Foster Career School, The International Academy of Design and Technology, and The Ashworth College.  You could get a professional bachelor’s or master’s degree.  The Bachelor of Architecture program takes five years to pass, and the Intern Development Program entails 5,600 hours.

There are many different types of houses.  There’s the Bungalow (a one story cottage or cabin), the Single Detached (a house that stands on it’s own), Duplex (two fold apartments), the Row House, (modern houses in the same area), and what everyone knows, the Mansion.  These aren’t the only styles though.  There are many more!

A famous building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright is the Guggenheim Museum of Art.  Adolf Loos designed the Cafe Museum and Looshaus.  Albert Kahn designed the twenty eight story Art Deco Fisher Building.  Wow!  That’s as big as a dinosaur!

Designing a house would be fun to do, but I’d rather be a veterinarian when I grow up.  I’m not as interested in architecture as I was.  Something that I learned was that the average salary for an architect is $57,000.  That disappointed me.   When I grow up, I won’t be an  architect!
