Biography of Gustave Eiffel

Gustave Eiffel was a good person.  He designed the eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty.  He was a great architect!

Gustave Eiffel was born in France on December 15, 1832.  He lived with his Grandmother because his mother died.  His Uncle schooled him and spent a lot of time with him.  Eiffel then went to the College Sainte-Barbe in Paris. 

In 1881, Gustave Eiffel designed the foundation of the Statue of Liberty.  Then in 1884, he started on the Eiffel Tower.  The idea was originally by Maurice Koechlin and Emile Nouguier.  To finish it up, he asked Stephen Sauvestre to add architectural embellishments.  It took two years to complete the Eiffel Tower.

Eiffel died on December 27, 1923 in his mansion while listening to Beethoven’s 5th Symphony.  He was buried in the Cemetery de Levallois-Perret.
